Old Salvatorians F.C. was formed in 1953 by a group led by Fr Thomas
Hennessey as a section within the Old Salvatorians Association. The aims
were to provide a social forum for the enjoyment of football for past
pupils and teachers of the After a season playing friendlies, the first League games in the Old Boys League were played in season 1954/55. We have a photo of that original League team on this web site here .

The 1st XI has been something of a yo-yo team in recent years. Having
achieved premiership status for the first time in 1997-8, there have
been a further three visits to the Premiership, but never for more than
two seasons. The aspiration is for Premiership status to be a permanent
feature!
A major milestone was achieved in 2010/11 season with the Under 17 side
from St Joseph’s Youth RC joining en masse; it is hoped that this is the
start of a long standing arrangement with St Joseph’s, providing a
bridge between youth and adult football. Old Salvo’s currently runs 6 sides in the Amateur Football Combination, reputed to be one of the biggest leagues in the world with around 300 teams turning out every Saturday. |
